This brooch takes inspiration from the dense undergrowth that surrounds the figures in Contradiction. Oberon and Titania (1854-1858) by Richard Dadd. Based on the solomon's seal plant at the front left foreground, the piece reflects Dadd’s passion for nature and miniaturist's eye for detail.

I loved the lightness of the white flowers cutting through the hidden world of the fairies. In order to let the blooms really sing, I designed them as pendants that hang from the curved stem. I also wanted to maintain the matte, twisting quality of the leaves so used a 3D molded base plated in this antique gold. As you walk, the flowers jingle like little bells.
